Overview

Hessa is a smart education management platform designed specifically for teachers and course coordinators who manage students, classes, and academic records on a daily basis.

Hessa brings all essential teaching and administrative tasks into one simple dashboard, helping teachers organize their work, save time, and focus on what matters most: teaching.
From attendance tracking and performance monitoring to report generation and student management, Hessa replaces manual paperwork and scattered tools with one reliable digital system.

Project Timeline

Discovery (Weeks 1): Interviewed 8 teachers about attendance, grading, and record workflows. Defined MVP: student management, attendance, performance tracking, and reports.  Design (Weeks 2): Designed high-fi screens for dashboard, profiles, attendance, analytics, and reports.

Usability tests with 5 teachers refined navigation and clarity.

  Development (Weeks 3): Built frontend and backend, added role-based access, and PDF exports. 

 Beta Launch (Week 4): Launched to 10 teachers, Reduced paperwork time.

Design Process

For Hessa, we began by interviewing 8 independent teachers to uncover workflow pain points and define MVP features. We then mapped user flows and created low-fidelity wireframes to shape a simple, task-focused dashboard. After that, we designed high-fidelity screens for core features and refined them through usability testing with 5 teachers. Finally, we implemented the system, add PDF reports and role-based access, and iterate based on feedback from 10 beta users.

Design System

Hessa uses Inter throughout the platform to create a clear and consistent visual hierarchy. For example, headings use Inter Bold 24pt to stand out on dashboards, body text uses Inter Regular 14pt for readability in student lists and Regular 16pt for attendance tables. Using the font this way helps users read information quickly, see what’s important, and move around the platform easily.

Hessa’s color system uses Dusty Orange for primary actions like “Add Student” or “Save,” green to mark students as Present, and red to mark students as Absent or show errors. Neutral grays are used for backgrounds, tables, and side panels to keep the interface calm and readable. This consistent use of color guides teachers’ attention to key actions, feedback, and data, making it easier to navigate dashboards and manage student records efficiently.
